Comprehensive Calculation & Regulatory Disclaimer
1. Mathematical Precision Architecture & Rounding Rules
Standard digital calculators often rely on native IEEE 754 binary floating-point representation, causing
minute binary inaccuracies (e.g., 0.1 + 0.2 = 0.30000000000000004). VeloCalc avoids binary
inaccuracies by implementing exact decimal arithmetic (package:decimal and
package:rational).
However, users must understand the mathematical boundaries:
- Display Rounding: Values are rounded only at the final presentation step according to standard rounding strategies (Half-Up or Banker's Rounding to two decimal places for currency, whole rupee rounding where configured).
- Cumulative Compounding Discrepancies: In long-term multi-decade calculations (e.g., 30-year home mortgages or daily compounding interest), minor discrepancies of a few cents or rupees may occur when compared against proprietary bank core-banking systems (such as Finacle, Flexcube, or Temenos) due to differing internal day-count conventions (Actual/365, Actual/360, or 30/360).
2. Loan, Mortgage, EMI & Amortization Disclaimer
When utilizing the Loan EMI, Prepayment, Amortization, and Balance Transfer calculators:
- Indicative Schedules: EMI figures, principal allocations, and total interest payable
are theoretical projections derived using standard annuity equations:
EMI = [P × R × (1+R)ⁿ] / [(1+R)ⁿ - 1]. - Lender Fees & Incidental Charges: Projections do NOT include loan origination fees, appraisal charges, documentation fees, stamp duties, mandatory credit life insurance, mortgage guarantee charges, or prepayment penalties.
- Floating Interest Rates: Most real-world home and vehicle loans operate on floating/variable benchmark rates (e.g., RBI Repo-Linked Lending Rate in India, SOFR in the US, Bank of England Base Rate in the UK, BBSW in Australia). VeloCalc cannot predict future benchmark shifts.
- Disbursement Dates & Odd-Day Interest: Banks typically charge pre-EMI interest for the broken days between loan disbursement and the first calendar billing cycle. VeloCalc amortization tables assume standardized full-month cycles.
3. Investments, Mutual Funds & SIP Wealth Disclaimer
When utilizing SIP (Systematic Investment Plan), Lumpsum, Compound Interest, CAGR, and Retirement calculators:
- Hypothetical Returns: The user enters an assumed annual rate of return (e.g., 12% per annum). Equity mutual funds, stocks, and index funds fluctuate continuously. Market returns are never fixed or linear.
- No Capital Guarantee: Projections are NOT guarantees of future wealth. Past performance of an asset class is not indicative of future returns. Investments are subject to market risks, including the potential loss of initial principal.
- Inflation & Purchasing Power: Realized future returns may be significantly diminished by inflation. A maturity corpus of ₹1 Crore / $1 Million in 25 years will have substantially lower real purchasing power than it has today.
- Taxes & Exit Loads: Projections do not account for capital gains taxes (such as LTCG/STCG in India, Federal/State Capital Gains in the US, or CGT in Australia), dividend withholding taxes, or fund management expense ratios.
4. Goods and Services Tax (GST) & Income Tax Disclaimer
When utilizing GST and Income Tax calculators:
- Statutory Rate Changes: Tax slabs (such as Indian GST slabs: 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%) and statutory income tax slabs (New Tax Regime u/s 115BAC vs Old Regime) reflect prevailing tax codes at the time of software release. Tax authorities frequently enact amendments, cesses, and notifications.
- Rebates, Deductions & Exemptions: Tax calculators provide high-level estimates based on standard deductions and basic Section 87A rebate rules. They cannot account for individualized complex tax scenarios, carry-forward business losses, foreign tax credits, alternative minimum taxes (AMT), or audit disallowances.
- Not a Certified Tax Return: VeloCalc outputs cannot be submitted as a certified income tax return or GST return. Consult a practicing Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
5. Civil Construction & Material Estimation Disclaimer
When utilizing Construction, Concrete, Brickwork, Plaster, Tile, or Paint calculators:
- Theoretical Formulations: All volume, cement bag, aggregate, sand, and brick computations are theoretical geometric estimates based on standardized mix ratios (e.g., M15, M20, M25).
- Construction Wastage: Real-world civil projects inevitably experience material wastage, typically ranging from 5% to 15% for bricks, mortar rebound, cutting tiles, and paint over-absorption on uneven plaster.
- Structural Engineering Necessity: Material calculations MUST NEVER be used as a substitute for certified architectural blueprints or structural engineering designs adhering to local building codes (e.g., National Building Code of India - NBC, International Building Code - IBC, Eurocodes, or National Construction Code of Australia - NCC). Always consult a licensed structural engineer.
6. Foreign Currency Conversion & Exchange Rate Latency
Currency conversions rely on publicly available reference foreign exchange rates. Live mid-market exchange rates fluctuate second-by-second during active trading hours. Real-world banks, forex cards, and money transfer services add commercial spreads, commission fees, and cross-border currency conversion charges. Rates displayed in VeloCalc should not be relied upon for high-value commercial forex trading or binding remittance contracts.
7. Multi-Jurisdiction Regulatory Notifications
8. User Due Diligence & Verification Duty
By using VeloCalc, you affirm that you will independently verify any and all figures, equations, and statements with appropriate certified professionals before executing any legally binding contract, taking out debt, filing statutory tax reports, making capital investments, or procuring building materials.
