Privacy Policy for VeloCalc
1. Introduction & Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how VeloCalc ("we", "us", or "our") governs data handling practices across our mobile applications (Android and iOS) and web services. This policy complies with international data protection frameworks, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (United States), the General Data Protection Regulation (European Union & UK), and the Privacy Act 1988 (Australia).
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
Unlike cloud-based or ad-surveillance financial tools, VeloCalc enforces data minimization at the architectural level:
- No User Account or Identity Credentials: We do not ask for, process, or store your name, email address, physical address, phone number, government ID numbers (e.g., Aadhaar, PAN, SSN, TFN), or passwords.
- No Bank or Financial Account Information: VeloCalc does not connect to bank accounts, credit cards, UPI handles, or payment gateways. We have zero access to your actual bank balances or transaction histories.
- No Precise Geolocation: We never request or monitor GPS location data or continuous background positioning.
- No Biometric or Sensor Data: We do not access fingerprint scanners, facial recognition cameras, microphones, health sensors, or device contacts.
- No Server-Side Calculation Logging: Every calculation (math expression, Loan EMI, Compound Interest, SIP returns, GST breakdown, Salary, Tax regime comparisons, or Construction estimates) is processed entirely by the deterministic execution engine running within your device's memory.
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following information is persisted exclusively in your device's private sandboxed app directory (via operating system SharedPreferences or local application storage):
| Data Category | Storage Purpose | User Control |
|---|---|---|
| Calculation History Tape | Stores past mathematical inputs and computed results (up to 500 records) to enable recall, comparison, and verification. | Can be cleared at any time via the "Clear All History" button in Settings. |
| Application Preferences | Persists your chosen theme (Light, Dark, System Default), numbering format (Indian Lakhs/Crores vs International Millions/Billions), and haptic touch feedback toggle. | Can be modified or reset at any time in Settings. |
| Favorite / Pinned Calculators | Stores shortcuts to your most frequently used calculation modules. | Managed directly from the home navigation dashboard. |
| Offline Currency Exchange Rates | Cached public foreign currency benchmark conversion tables for offline calculation. | Automatically refreshed when connected to the internet; contains no user data. |
4. PDF Statement Generation & Native Sharing
VeloCalc provides tools to export comprehensive calculation statements (such as Loan Amortization schedules, SIP wealth accumulation reports, and GST summaries) in formatted PDF format:
- 100% Client-Side Rendering: PDF files are generated entirely on your device using native Flutter document compilation libraries (`package:pdf`). At no point are your inputs transmitted to a remote rendering farm or cloud server.
- Sandboxed Temporary Cache: Generated PDFs are temporarily written to your operating system's designated app cache directory (`cacheDir`).
- User-Initiated Native Share Sheet: Sharing is executed strictly via your operating system's native share protocol (Android `ACTION_SEND` / iOS `UIActivityViewController`). You maintain exclusive control over which external app receives the document (e.g., WhatsApp, Email, Google Drive, AirDrop, or local file storage). VeloCalc never shares documents automatically in the background.
5. Device Permissions Requested
VeloCalc requests only the minimum operating system permissions necessary to deliver its core utility features:
android.permission.VIBRATE(Normal Permission): Used solely to provide subtle haptic feedback when tapping calculator keys. This can be toggled off at any time in the app's Settings.android.permission.INTERNET: Used exclusively to fetch public benchmark foreign currency exchange rates and, where applicable, to deliver advertising if using the free ad-supported version.android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Checks whether your device is currently offline or connected to Wi-Fi/cellular networks to gracefully prevent failed network calls.
6. Third-Party Services & Network Calls
VeloCalc maintains a minimal network footprint. When network connections are utilized, the following third-party components may be engaged:
- Public Currency Exchange Rate Providers: Open-access financial rates are queried to populate the currency conversion utility. These requests contain no personal identifiers, cookies, or device telemetry.
- Advertising Networks (Free Tier Only): If you use the ad-supported edition of VeloCalc, Google AdMob or Google Mobile Ads SDK may serve ads. Google may process your device's advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID - GAID on Android, or Identifier for Advertisers - IDFA on iOS) and diagnostic data to deliver advertisements compliant with Google's Privacy Policy. In regions governed by GDPR/CPRA, users are provided with consent preference tools (Google UMP / TCF v2.2) to select personalized vs. non-personalized ads or opt out entirely.
7. India Specific Disclosures (DPDP Act 2023 & IT Act 2000)

- VeloCalc adheres to APP 1 (Open and transparent management of personal information) and APP 3 (Collection of solicited personal information).
- Because calculations remain strictly on your local device, no overseas transfer of personal calculation data occurs (APP 8).
- You may access and correct locally stored information at any time within the application interface (APP 12 and APP 13).
- If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, you may contact our Privacy Officer. If dissatisfied with our response, you may escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
11. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
VeloCalc is a general audience educational, mathematical, and calculation utility suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 13 in the United States (in compliance with COPPA) or under the age of 16 in the European Union (in compliance with GDPR-K).
