Data Safety, Security & Permissions Notice
1. Google Play Store Data Safety Questionnaire Disclosures
This section provides direct, verified declarations corresponding to the Google Play Console Data Safety form:
| Questionnaire Item | VeloCalc Official Response | Technical Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Does your app collect or share any user data? | No Personal Data Collected | No personally identifiable data is sent to developer servers. Diagnostic network calls are limited to public currency exchange rates and optional advertising SDKs. |
| Is data transferred over a secure connection? | Yes | All external network traffic (currency rates, ad auctions) is strictly enforced over modern TLS 1.3 cryptographic transport. |
| Can users request that their data be deleted? | Yes | Users can delete all history and local settings instantly via the in-app "Clear All History" button or through OS settings. See our Data Deletion Guide. |
| Is the app committed to follow Families Policy? | Yes | Zero personal data collection and no sensitive permissions. |
| Data Collection: Financial Info | Not Collected | Calculations are performed strictly in offline local memory. No bank accounts, credit cards, or balances are accessed. |
| Data Collection: Location | Not Collected | No coarse or fine location permissions requested. |
| Data Collection: Photos / Videos | Not Collected | No camera or photo gallery permissions requested. |
| Data Collection: Contacts | Not Collected | Zero contacts access. |
2. Apple App Store Privacy Nutrition Labels
In accordance with Apple App Store Guideline 5.1.1 (Data Collection and Storage), VeloCalc declares the following privacy labels:
None. We do not link user data with third-party data for targeted advertising without opt-in consent.
None. We do not maintain accounts, profiles, or user identity records.
Diagnostics / Device ID: Resettable Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and crash diagnostics processed exclusively by Google AdMob SDK if advertisements are active.
3. Operating System Manifest Permissions Analysis
VeloCalc requests an exceptionally low permission profile. The table below lists every permission declared
in AndroidManifest.xml and Info.plist:
| Permission | Protection Level | Exact Justification & Usage |
|---|---|---|
android.permission.VIBRATE |
Normal | Enables short (10–15ms) haptic feedback when pressing numeric and operator keypad buttons. User can disable this in Settings. |
android.permission.INTERNET |
Normal | Allows the application to fetch public benchmark foreign currency exchange rates and load ad creatives in the free version. |
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
Normal | Monitors connectivity to prevent currency fetch timeouts and ensure seamless offline calculator fallback. |
4. Storage & Encryption Architecture
VeloCalc leverages the host operating system's native hardware security architecture:
- Android Application Sandbox (UID Separation): On Android, VeloCalc runs as a distinct Linux User ID (UID). File system permissions prevent any other application on the device from accessing VeloCalc's internal files.
- iOS Data Protection (Keychain & File Protection): On iOS, files are stored within the sandboxed application container and encrypted at rest using Apple's hardware-backed Data Protection API.
- Zero Remote Cloud Backups: Calculation data is never transmitted to third-party databases, eliminating remote data breach or credential leak risks.
5. PDF Cache & File Handling Lifecycle
When generating calculation reports (such as Loan Amortization schedules, SIP Wealth statements, or GST summaries):
- PDFs are generated 100% on-device into temporary cache storage.
- Files are named securely using random UUIDs and isolated to the app's cache directory.
- Files in the cache directory are automatically eligible for eviction by the operating system when disk space is constrained, and can be manually cleared by the user at any time.
6. Data Deletion Assurance
Because VeloCalc does not store user data on remote servers, data deletion is instant and irrevocable:
- In-App Tape Erasure: Tap the "Clear All History" icon in the calculation history tape drawer.
- Operating System Wipe: Clear Storage in Android / iOS Application Settings.
- App Uninstallation: Deleting the app immediately destroys 100% of stored preferences and files.
